The oil paintings of New Mexico artists, Carla Forrest and Peggy Trigg, will be featured in a late winter/early spring show titled “Range of View” from February 5 through March 26 at Weryich Gallery in Albuquerque. Two dozen contemporary landscape paintings depicting a wide spectrum of New Mexico vistas will be on display, rotating over the months.
Carla, nationally recognized for her palette knife and impasto oil paintings with vibrant color, studied art and design at State University of New York and Rochester Institute of Technology, and currently has a professional art studio in Old Town Albuquerque. She is the premiere president of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, a non-profit organization of artists dedicated to preserving and promoting painting en plein air - in the open air or outdoors.
Peggy Trigg’s energetic landscapes are painted alla prima from direct observation using strong, intense colors that reflect the high contrast of the late afternoon or early morning light. This well-known professional artist and art educator’s love for the land springs from being raised in the country near Santa Fe. Currently living and painting in the Taos area, Peggy is a Signature Member of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. Her paintings can be seen at multiple galleries throughout New Mexico.
The opening reception with light refreshments (complying with public health ordinances) will be Friday February 5th from 11 am to 6 pm at Weryich Gallery in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights at 2935-D Louisiana NE. Meet artist Carla Forrest and learn about her approach to painting the new west.
