I'm pleased to announce a new outlet for my work at Big Horn Gallery in Tubac, Arizona, a small art community south of Tucson. As a former resident of Arizona, I am familiar with the beauty of the Sonoran desert, although the Tubac/Green Valley area is new to me. BigHorn Gallery can be found at:

I am also honored to have been elected president of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico for 2017.

This picture is from a film shoot in Old Town of "Galileo" (the working title) by L.A. based director Jay Silverman who is behind the camera. Other extras and I played various villager roles with me being a plein air artist. The movie is a romantic comedy loosely based on one of the heirs to the Taco Bell fortune falling for a woman chef in a small hypothetical town named Villa Nueva. Filming was done in Taos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The painting is a scene of one of the ridgelines in the Sandias.

Clouds & Sky in the Landscape

Regardless of whether the sky or the land is the subject, artists should be aware of the important role the sky plays in landscape painting. This oil painting class with Tom Blazier will introduce students to the relationship between sky and ground and explore ways to impart luminosity to skies, strengthen compositions through effective placement of cloud shapes and enhance mood with creative use of color. Demonstrations will be done in oil. Sessions will meet in studio with some observational time spent outside. It is advised that students who take this class have a grasp of art fundamentals. Please contact Tom at with questions. Please sign up early; class size is limited.

This 8-week class meets 1 - 4 p.m. Mondays, January 9 - February 27, 2017 at the New Mexico Art League in Albuquerque. Cost is $235 (members) and $255 (non-members).

For information and to register, visit the New Mexico Art League website:

Hope to see you there, and thanks for your time!
