Four Seasons of Tesuque Peak (4)

Created on: 02 Jan 2018
Four paintings done plein air from the same spot in Santa Fe. A couple of years ago I did a painting of the mountains above Santa Fe and last year went back to the same spot three times. I have found this view especially challenging because the tree and bald patterns of the peak have changed since my childhood. The bald spots were much larger back then. My family called the pattern "The Horse's Head". I found my self painting more from my memories than observation and abstracted the works more than usual.
  • Winter, painted 3-8-2017.
  • Spring, painted April 2017.
  • Summer, painted 6-7-2015
  • Autumn, painted September 2017.
