Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument

W. of Santa Fe, towards Cochiti Lake

Tent Rocks, on the Pajarito Plateau in north-central New Mexico, includes a national recreation trail and ranges from 5,570 feet to 6,760 feet above sea level. The cone-shaped tent rock formations are the products of volcanic eruptions that left pumice, ash and tuff deposits over 1,000 feet thick. The unusual formations offer many interesting subjects for painting.

Meet in the parking area by the bulletin board. Restrooms are available. Entrance fee is $5 per car.

Winter hours (Nov. 1 - March 10) are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m - gates close at 4 p.m.

Summer hours (March 11 - Oct. 31) are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm - gates close at 6:00pm
