Steve Atkinson |
Steve Atkinson is a storyteller at heart, channeling the narratives of the American West into paintings that range from cowboy action to quiet moments of reflection, always driven by authenticity and a deep respect for the working cowboy. Splitting his time between the studio and plein air painting, he credits working outdoors—with its shifting light, weather, and distractions—for sharpening his eye and strengthening his instincts. Now based in Prescott, Arizona, he lives amid the subjects that inspire him and continues to explore the cowboy’s fading way of life and its enduring code of ethics. A Signature member of the Oil Painters of America and an award‑winning Portrait Society of America artist, his work appears in collections across the U.S. and Europe and is represented by Illume Gallery West, Trailside Galleries, Black Arrow Gallery, and the Phippen Museum Store. |

Sarah Blumenschein
| Sarah Blumenschein lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and originally dreamed of becoming an artist before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. She spent 14 years working as an engineer before returning to her passion for art, focusing on pastels. Initially drawn to landscapes, Sarah became more interested in still-life painting, inspired by the endless variety of colors, shapes, textures, and reflective surfaces they offer. Her favorite subjects often include glass, china, and flowers, as she enjoys capturing light and creating a sense of depth on a flat surface. Sarah has won many local, national and international art competitions, including 1st place in the Still Life Category of The Artist Magazine 2009 Annual Art competition, The Grand Prize in the Pastel Journal’s 2010 Pastel 100 annual competition, “Best of Show” in the 2014 New Mexico Masterworks competition and the 2015 Pastel Society of New Mexico National Exhibition, “The Pat and Bob Suggs Award for Still Life and Floral” in the 2021 Pastel Society of America “Enduring Brilliance” Exhibition, and 1st Place in the Open Division of the 2021 International Association of Pastel Societies Web Show. In addition to awards, Sarah has also earned Signature status in the Pastel Society of America, Distinguished Pastelist status in the Pastel Society of New Mexico and Pastel Society of the West Coast, and Master Circle Status in the International Association of Pastel Societies. Her artwork has also been featured in magazine articles in both the Artist’s Magazine and the Pastel Journal. |
Tom Conner grew up in North Carolina and was drawing and painting from an early age. He graduated from North Carolina State University's School of Design with a degree in architecture while continuing to pursue drawing and painting in his free time. It was after moving to Arizona that his true arts education began, in the deserts and forests of the southwest. Developing a love of great open spaces, hiking, camping and rock climbing soon filled his free time, where he absorbed the beauty of nature and learned to observe his surroundings. Since then he has explored his love of the natural world through painting, both plein air and studio works, always in the pursuit of capturing greater truths. The essential quest for him in both painting and architecture are similar; light and form are in partnership to reveal the nature of one another. Every painting seeks to explore this dynamic.
