Painting Water in Oil

Kathleen will offer this 3-day WORKSHOP on painting water at the Big Tesuque Campground area, just 13 miles northeast of Santa Fe. The registration fee is $440 for a maximum of 15 registrants.

      Join Kathleen Hudson for a 3-day  workshop for artists working in all mediums, with demonstrations in oil. Each morning will feature a presentation, full painting demonstration, and exercises for students focusing on value & composition. Afternoons will be devoted to one-on-one instruction. Points of study will include:

• Reflections on the surface of still water
• Creating a sense of translucency
• Painting moving water—using brushwork to emphasize motion & direction
• Tips for painting water out of doors and getting good reference for studio use

      One-on-one instruction in afternoons will be individually tailored. Students are encouraged to email several waterscape/plein air painting examples beforehand and list some specific things they would like to work on. All class members are invited to meet Kathleen and fellow students for dinner at an area restaurant on the opening night (this is optional, of course!).

Tuition includes a 40-page workshop handbook.
