    Cynthia Inson: Mar 21:

It’s All About Relationships But Keep Your Distance.

    Cynthia's Website

Painting with intention is all about combining the relationships between color, value, line, form, size, and position. However, it is a challenge to “keep your distance” to able to adjust and improve your works.

Cynthia Inson is an artist devoted to capturing moments of awe and transforming them into vivid, emotionally resonant paintings. Inspired by skies, mountains, roses, and water, she creates work that stops viewers in their tracks and invites them to experience the same joy and wonder she felt. Her paintings reveal new details over time, encouraging viewers to linger and rediscover them again and again. Cynthia holds degrees in Art History, Studio Arts, Anthropology, and Archaeology from Wichita State University and is represented by Nedra Matteucci Galleries in Santa Fe.

    Wendy Ahlm:

    Wendy Ahlm: Jan 24, Gouache.

Have you tried this new hot medium yet? Wendy Ahlm will demonstrate how she paints in gouache and lead you through some swatching exercises so that you can try out the medium and practice what she considers one of its most versatile, yet confusing characteristics: viscosity.

Wendy received a BFA in printmaking and painting from Carnegie Mellon University. Her landscape paintings in oil, gouache, and watercolor capture shifting light and atmosphere infused with vibrant surprises of color. Wendy’s sense of joy and playfulness often seeps into her paintings with unusual subject matter and an elevation of common, everyday scenes that tell a story. She has  won numerous artwork awards. Website

Congratulations, Cynthia!!  The serenity of Cynthia Inson’s intimate landscapes extends beyond the canvas. Her passion for life and the rugged beauty of the Southwest shines through in her playful, bold palettes and loose, impressionistic style. Inson studied Studio Arts and Art History in her undergrad and received her master’s in Anthropology and Archaeology from Wichita State University. An avid plein air painter, Inson draws inspiration from The Hudson River School and original California plein air painters.
