"’m delighted that Eric Rhoads, publisher of PleinAir magazine, has invited me back to give another live demonstration for Art School Live! Tune in on Thursday, September 11th, at noon Eastern Time, to the YouTube channel: youtube.com/@artschoollive
What will I be demonstrating? Here’s a little about my presentation:
Many artists paint rocks—but are we really looking at how light and color shift with the weather? In this pastel demonstration, I’ll explore how rocks behave under bright sun and soft fog. You’ll learn how to use color temperature to add realism, and how bounced light, broken color, and a bold, unexpected palette can bring drama and life to your painting.
You may wonder why I chose pastel rather than oil. Since there’s a lot I want to show about layering and color adjustment, pastel is a quicker medium for this. You can certainly do the same with oil, but in the time constraints of the show, pastel will be better.
The program will last about an hour. I hope to see you there!"
